Nonfiction Bookbag for Kurzweil 3000

Each chapter book in this well-known series focuses on a milestone in American history and addresses the findings of the National Reading Panel in two critical areas of instruction: vocabulary and comprehension. Developed specifically to increase reading comprehension and a love of reading, the series helps bring struggling readers up to grade level and prepare them for high-stakes tests.

Fifteen books from Metro’s Nonfiction Bookbag series and the accompanying Student Handbooks containing learning activities related to each book, as well as student pre- and post-reading tests, have been adapted into electronic form for immediate use with Kurzweil 3000. Series titles have been grouped by grade level and are available to purchase as sets on CD or to download. Individual titles can be purchased separately by download only.

For Grades K-4

This popular early reading program from Sopris West features 28 related decodable stories with recurring characters and pre-reading and post-reading activity pages that are aligned with the story. Engaging poetry and student-friendly questions promote vocabulary and comprehension. Students begin with simple one-syllable short vowel words (sat) and gradually progress to simple two-syllable words (rabbit).
